Cages have come a long way - seed guards, pull out trays & grilles, casters. But you still have to clean them. Birds are messy by their nature. They were put on the planet to “sow seeds of the earth.”

They poop roughly every 15 minutes. Many wild birds eat fish eggs and poop them else ware helping populate small lakes with fish

They just don’t know the difference between your living room & the rain forest.
We suggest taking certain actions that can help reduce your cage cleaning time.

  • Less seed more fresh food and/or pelleted food
  • Move bird food dishes lower - place on slide out grille (floor of cage)
  • Place section of newspaper directly on slide out grille
  • Use office chair mat under cage area
  • Loose the seed guards - they’re actually more to clean
  • Use steam cleaner to clean bird cage and sanitize in place
  • Clean more often so it’s not such a big chore
  • Keep wings trimmed - less flapping power - less mess spreading

K9 Couture Boutique just added a line of Organic Grooming Supplies that are amazing! These products are not only gentle on our precious pups, but they also have holistic ingredients. The line consists of Organic Botanical Crème Rinse & Conditioner, a gentle Organic Puppy Shampoo & Conditioner, a delicious Organic Oatmeal and Almond Shampoo & Conditioner, a fantastic Organic Rosehips Dry Shampoo & Conditioner and an Organic Ear Wash.

Why choose organic products for your pet?
Organic ingredients contain no synthetics, chemicals or pesticides. Authentic organic products such as ours must be certified organic by an official third-party agency, ensuring that the producer has grown and handled the ingredients by adhering to strict standards and procedures.

Organic products are typically more expensive than other products because producing them is more labor intensive and intricate in order to ensure that these more stringent regulations are satisfied.

You will see that some of the… (Read the rest of this article at the following article source link for the full story)

Hello,

I have a very large harlequin macaw that is bad tempered and bites, I need to get him to a vet for care as he is starting to pluck his feathers.  I need a carrier that will keep him, me, my car and the other people in the vets office safe.  He is a rescue bird and has some trust issues.  He was treated cruelly by his previous owner and kept in a VERY small cage.  I just need some guidance on the care of this bird and I am sure he needs to see a vet.

Big Macaws are certainly some of the toughest birds to travel with because of their overall length. My suggestion would be this #612 carrier on rolling casters. It’s wrought iron & very durable. It would ship quickly.

A recent Tweet asked “as a new parrot owner do i have to throw out all my non stick pans?

My short answer was “no” but you have to be careful - here’s an informational link from DuPont, the makers of Teflon - talking about how their product affects birds. http://tinyurl.com/2vwj7g3

Here’s another article from The Straight Dope

Hope that helps
